Freestyle donates digital expertise

To those that know us, a sporting creed runs through the veins here at  Freestyle Interactive.

 We’ve got world class swimmers, competitive runners, cyclists and tri-athletes amongst our teams and, if that’s not enough, we’re also lucky enough to have two fantastic  Olympian clients - swimming sensations Rebecca Adlington  & Keri-anne Payne.

 So as the sporty mood gets hotter in the run up to 2012 it seemed utterly fitting that Freestyle puts its digital muscle & know-how into helping one of the UK’s much loved sporting charities - the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust .

“The desire to get stuck in and do something positive for is the key reason why Freestyle is hosting this specially created   “Digital Marketing Insight for Sports Stars” workshop this Monday 31st October, explains Andy Wood, Freestyle Director.

Aimed specifically to meet the needs of Olympians, Paralympians and elite athletes as they transition from international competition to a new career, this workshop will help a small team drawn from the DKH Legacy Trust “Harnessing Talent Programme”.

The session will cover off a range of topics and will include:

  • The fundamentals of good website design;
  • The ins-and-outs of using Search for brand awareness online;
  • Key aspects behind good online community  and social media channel management, including Twitter.

Emma Atkins, Sport Director, DKH Legacy Trust said “Workshops like this, led by experts like Freestyle Interactive are a crucial element in ensuring the Trust can continue its work.  We are dedicated to supporting Performers as they make the move into a new career. We are delighted that Freestyle have been able to help us a second time“.

Two of Freestyle’s best - Community Manager Sean Walsh and Andy Gaukrodger– a self-confessed lover of all things SEO - are leading the workshop which will definitely have a hands-on approach.

Community Manager Sean Walsh is fast becoming well known in football blogging circles and knows a thing or two about the ups and downs of sportspeople as they get to grips with online communications & social media in particular.

Sean said: “This workshop should be a really productive session and hopefully lots of fun.  In the world of internet some of the biggest social media gaffs have been the result of misguided social media activity by sports stars. “

However, for many elite sports performers digital communications, search & social media is not always an area they are entirely familiar with.  Our workshop will help them address this knowledge
