When Channel 4 needed to find itself some digital industry specialists to join in its series of 4Talent Inspirational Day workshops for young people - the broadcaster called up Freestyle Interactive.
“Naturally we were delighted to get the call & we responded with a big YES WE’D LOVE TO HELP,” says Freestyle’s digital PR specialist Delia Goldsby.
The 4Talent Inspiration Days are run in association with Screen West Midlands. They are part of a wider series of regional initiatives designed to foster talented youngsters (18 – 24 years) as they look to kick start their careers in media. Split into two workshops, 20 media & advertising students drawn from Universities from all around the Midlands region took part in the day.
The Freestyle workshop session was run by Freestyle’s strategy director Andy Wood, search, social & content specialist Tracy Falke and Delia Goldsby, a digital PR specialist. The workshop comprised mini sessions on life & career in the Midland’s largest digital agency & some of the hot topics & trends in digital marketing communications around search, social media & online PR.
Andy Wood said: “We had a great time working with all the students & the teams from Channel 4 Talent & Screen WM. The feedback has been very positive. They were a well informed bunch with a really enthusiastic approach. As a result two of the group are joining us for an afternoon of further insight all of which will enhance their knowledge and career outlooks even more we hope.”
Inspiration Day organiser Kate Edwards, 4Talent and Learning Coordinator Channel 4 Television Corporation at Channel 4Talent explained:
“4Talent is all about supporting people build great futures in the media industry. We want to encourage people from different backgrounds and walks of life and different stages of their careers to think about careers in the media.”
“The diversity of media today means we’re not just talking about the high profile on-screen programmes,” continued Kate.
“There’s all the vital behind the scenes areas too such as production, creative and commercial for example, not to mention digital & social media marketing, advertising, press, commissioning, HR, finance & more.”
